I was wondering the same thing but glad it's still coming. Love everything going on so far even though I'm having troubles with new colors appearing on the palette but hopefully the update can fix that.

@Alex please check if you still have LDD.lif and LDDExtendedlif somewhere in the folder. If yes: rename them or delete them. LDD first checks for these .lif files and ignores the unzipped files. This should solve your color issue.

shitmaster3001, yes, they will slowly be updated. This was an unfortunate thing that had to happen due to the way these parts were initially set-up in LDD. Right now the torso and arm decorations can be included in 1 decoration file where earlier 4 were needed (6 for dual-moulded arms). Same for the legs, previously 6 decoration files were needed for 1 set of legs, now it can be done with 1 file. I understand that this is an inconvenience, also for custom decorations, but in the end it's what's better for LDD and its future :)

Part 1 and Part 2 each contain a DecorationMapping.xml and an info.xml. Do I need both versions? If so, how should I handle it to avoid one overwriting the other? If not, which should I give precedence to?

Both DecorationMapping.xml and info.xml are identical. You can extract Part 1 first and then simply Part 2 after that. Unfortunately this website hosting limits file sizes to 41 MBs.

I've run into a bit of a snag in updating my builds in progress. Many of the minifig torsos are being deleted or else losing their attachment to the heads. Usually this seems to happen in the minifig has a cape, which the heads no longer fit on top of snugly, but in a few instances it seems to have happened to a minifig with no cape. There seem to be fewer possible connections, or something.

I will look into this. The torso parts have been extensively tested to avoid this deletion and none of the pre-release tester encountered this problem. Does it happen to all torso parts or only 76382 and the 2K version? About the connections, I will try to find a proper fix for this since I wasn't really happy with the old solution, but the new solution does also not work 100% as intended.

@Stephan3321 The deletion seems to be mostly 16360, though I've noted one or two instances that may or may not have been 76382. I can't really seem to identify a definitive pattern otherwise. Most of them seem to be figs with certain kinds of neck pieces, but there are plenty of examples of both it happening and it not happening that don't fit that pattern.

I've also noted that a couple of figures with the three-colored short legs (16709) have their legs deleted. That seems to be less common, but just as arbitrary.

So I noticed when adding the update as well as getting the colors, the printing for both 3626 (mini head) 36382 (mini upper part) have been enlarged and not sure how to fix it. I still have the UV Map for both.

I also see that Long arms (99114) don't show on the screen hope that could be fixed.

That's the new decoration format. They're going to have the piece's entire decorable surface (front, back, sides, etc.) in one single png, but they haven't updated all the decorations to match yet.

Yes, sorry about that. I can understand that it's a big inconvenience, but there is a good reason to optimise these decoration surfaces: LDD is not optimised for a large amount of decoration files, so the less png's, the better. Also: decorations names can only be 6 digits long which limits the amount of numbers that can be used when using the official LEGO numbers.

i have checked it and none of the cmfs there have 3d instructions
maybe it could have come from a lego builders api that i have heard about or maybe its lego 3d catalogue misnamed
i would love to know where it came from and how

I am sorry, I cannot reproduce. I tried the original torso files, and then adding the new files, opening the LDD model. No torsos disappeared. Make sure you replace all related files as one original LDD file contained a faulty reference, causing some deletion to happen. Perhaps this is the case.

Most were holding props (inc. 30924, 13790, 61199, 85973, 30374, 95199, 58247, 57899, 3794, 3841, 64728, 87994, 10053, 98367, 88811, 30374, 66909, 71184, 93247, 30173, 30132, 62885, 62885, 5687, 983930, 64647, 25386, 3069, 611906, 15071, 95228, 23306, 98370, 91884, 500183, 98138, 3024, 983930, 69944, 3661, 26556, 88490, 95199, 3957, 39802, 3062, 41835, 99809, 97787, 32643, 25893, 30166, 92944, 28587, 30162, 95054, 98369, 33078, 95052, 98138, 3899, 44709, 350321, 98141, 10187, 63965), or had neck or waist accessories (inc. 95348, 93223, 10052, 15428, 18986, 2576, 95749, 42446, 25376, 2526, 28791, 5321, 27147, 26066, 601607, 12857, 27325, 25508, 611901, 24135, 15490, 88295, 99464, 25508, 15442, 61976, 30141, 24504, 39796, and especially 600880), but some didn't, and many had more than one of these so I can't be sure of which was the trigger. All torsos connected the mini legs (41879) and many connected to the long skirt (36036) have also disappeared, and at least one instance where the mid-size legs (37364, the right leg of which often shows up as a textureless white instead of the usual colored plastic texture) have disappeared from under a torso. There are also a few where the torsos and props haven't disappeared, but no longer behave as if they're connected to one another.

Pls revert back the mini torso, feet & head decorations back to the original texture format/layout/mapping, i don't like it, this update is destroying all stickers prior to this and all of my custom-made stickers that i've been create since 2021

@Brickcustom667, the update will not be reverted. You can revert the affected parts yourself by replacing them with the original versions you should have back-upped. The upcoming update will include the final UV mapping of the 3626 head with all old decorations updated accordingly. The torso is already in a final state, and the leg parts will be updated again in the upcoming update in order to accomodate the official LEGO layout. I understand that this affects your custom decorations, but in the end I have no control on those. The thing I can control is the future of LDD. I have updated 500+ decorations for the heads. I always try to minimise these issues, but, in the end the LEGO UV layout will be leading, and official decorations updated accordingly. This is also written in the FAQ.

So, official decorations will be updated.

You can do a fresh install of LDD to get the files back. There is no benefit in the old torso files compared to the current ones. Old LDD decorations will be updated, just like the heads have been.

I just downloaded the newest 'update', and its practically wrecked my entire digital building program. Hundreds of parts are just gone, my templates have been wiped out, and many colors are no longer accessible. I've tried reinstalling files from previous updates, but still nothing is changing. I got maybe a few templates to reappear, but that is literally all. I've also tried reusing the updater application, but it only removed my recovered templates

I have found the problem. The installer would make a back-up of the LEGO Digital Designer folder, but did not copy the preferences.ini file back into the LEGO Digital Designer folder. And, the was a folder-level missing in the zip file, messing up the folder structure.

Yes, I found that there were 2 things going wrong: 1. the folder structure became messed up due to a missing folder layer. 2. The preferences.ini file was overwritten. Both have been resolved. In your specific case: copy your current preferences.ini file to f.i. your desktop, run the update installer, choose "Complete installation", and place your preferences.ini file back into the LEGO Digital Designer folder. This should do the trick. So, as of now: with every new update (including the current one), your preferred settings are no longer overwritten.

Well, it's not stressful. Because I am adding the parts anyway for myself, it's just a lot of extra work. This new installation method saves me days of dedicated time each update, so the temporary struggle was worth it :)

I followed your instructions and copied the Preferences.ini to the desktop, then went for the complete installation, but the end result was the same; a complete factory reset, no templates, only pre-custom-update parts, no added colors.

However, this time something slightly different happened; the entire DB folder had become completely un-extracted, and prior attempts at using the new updater had not done that.

So, on a hunch, I used the LIFextractor application, then re-uploaded the September 2024 update; and sure enough, it actually worked, this time. I then got the latest pack from the Github link, and now my inventory is fully up-to-date. I now have all the parts and colors, and my saved model files seem to be intact.

However, all of my Templates are still gone, and at this point, I can't seem to even get a few back, like before. I don't know if this is because I tried multiple times to reinstall and/or transfer back the files from the backup folder, or even if I'm just out of luck on this one

More importantly; I keep getting this popup every time the application installation is finished:
"No LXF named '251130' was found at the expected location: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Loaming\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer\251130.lxf.

This means that the latest parts file cannot be opened. If you chose the complete update, this is correct"

I had thought originally that this was just due to the folder error you mentioned, or if this is actually supposed to happen [I doubt that latter one, since it reads like an error] but its still doing it

Thank you for letting me know. I totally overlooked the actual cause of the Palettes issue... It's related to two things: 1) the Preferences.ini file determines which palettes should be visible within LDD, and 2) the Palettes folder stores the actual palette data.

You can fix the problem as follow: copy all your Palettes with exception of the LDDExtended and Custom parts palette folder (don't know the exact naming) from your back-up and paste them in the new Palettes folder. That should do the trick.

I will work this evening to fix this in the current update. And then it will be automatically fixed for future updates as well.

All of the fixes to my current program came from the latest update and installing older and newer parts packs.

Just a thought I've had, but at this point, I have to wonder if whatever files were containing my template information were overwritten or even outright erased, because seemingly nothing I do gets the program to show them.

[Btw, I feel I should clarify that by 'templates', I mean the builds saved to the 'templates' section, alongside the parts inventory in the LDD program]
